| Campus Tour |
Individualized campus tours are scheduled daily throughout the year. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to see the campus, view classes in session, and meet with the Director of Admissions. To schedule a tour, please contact the Admissions Office (512-327-7755) or admissions@sgs-austin.org.
What to expect: When you arrive, please park in any non-designated parking space. Please enter the main school building and check-in with our receptionist. She will ask you to sign-in, fill-out a visitor name badge, and will notify our Director of Admission that you have arrived. The duration of a campus tour varies depending on the number of questions you have about the School but please plan on spending approximately 45 minutes on our campus. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to view the campus and briefly observe your child’s current and future grade level classrooms, and the specialist classrooms. At the conclusion of your tour, you will meet with the Director of Admission to discuss any additional topics that were not addressed during the tour.

The student shadow visit gives us the opportunity to get to know your child and gives your child the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a student at St. Gabriel’s. It is an important part of the school search and application process. Shadow visits reduce anxiety your child may have about a new place and new people. Children visit in the grade in which they are currently enrolled because we want them to be among their peers.
Preparing for a Shadow Visit
What is the duration of the Student Shadow Visit?
Visiting Kindergarten: 8am-2pm
Visiting Grades One through Five: 8am-3:30pm
Visiting Grades Six through Eight: 8am-3:45pm
When should we arrive on campus?
We ask that you arrive between 7:45am-8am. Please park in any non-designated parking space and walk your child in to our main building. Please check-in at the reception desk and our Director of Admissions will be notified that you and your child have arrived.
What should my child wear?
Please have your child wear comfortable clothes and athletic footwear so they may participate in recess and physical education class. If your child is visiting on a color day, we will notify you in advance.
Should I provide a snack and/or lunch for my child? We ask that you provide a snack for mid-morning. We will sign-up your child for our lunch program free of charge. However, you are welcome to provide a lunch for your child.
How will my child know where to go during their visit? We assign a shadow buddy the same gender as your child. The shadow buddy will sit with and assist your child throughout their visit.
How will I know if my child’s visit is going well? We are happy to let you know how the visit is going. Please let our Director of Admissions know if you would like to be contacted with periodic updates throughout the day.
How do you ensure the safety of my child while he/she is visiting St. Gabriel’s?
The safety of your child and all children at St. Gabriel’s is our primary concern. When you arrive, we will ask you to fill-out a brief health questionnaire, permission to treat, and emergency contact form. This information will be provided to our School nurse in the event that your child should require medical attention during their visit.
