 Who is St. Gabriel

St. Gabriel, the Archangel, is our Patron Saint. He is highly
regarded by Christians, Muslims, and those of Jewish faith. Gabriel is one of the seven archangels and is the heavenly messenger who appears in order to communicate God's will and reveal blessed events. The name Gabriel means "Man of God" and in St. Gabriel's own powerful words, "I am Gabriel, who stands in attendance before God" (Luke 1:19).

In art, Gabriel is represented in majestic robes with long hair and multicolored wings. In some representations he carries a lily and in others is a depiction of a dove. This is why our school crest depicts the symbols of Gabriel, the horn, the lily, and the dove. In 1921, Pope Benedict XV officially made Gabriel’s Day the day before the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin. His feast day is September 29th. On January 21, 1951, Pope Pius XII declared Gabriel to be the patron of people engaged in telecommunications. Gabriel is also the patron saint of broadcasting and communications, postal workers, public relations, diplomats and ambassadors, and messengers.
